First exclusive photo of "As I Lay Dying '

The site EW.com exclusively released the first official image of James and Jim Parrack in the film As I Lay Dying, which debuts next month at Cannes.

Franco not only acts in the film, he adapted the novel and directed, too. The story is about a family from Mississippi whose journey is trying to honor the wishes of his mother's death to burial, but is interrupted by all sorts of calamity. Since James read the book as a teenager felt the urge to adapt the book to the screen, "As I Lay Dying is a book that my dad gave me and I remember spending a weekend reading late on Friday night and Saturday night, when all my friends were having fun, "said Franco. "It was a difficult book at that time. I just tried to understand every line of it. He stayed with me. "

But there is an understandable reason for that Hollywood has not successfully adapted this work before. There are 15 different narrators who cross its 59 chapters, and never quite fit into a conventional narrative film. Although he loved the book, Franco realized that he would have to make sacrifices. "You want to capture the tone, but you can not work in exactly the same way," Franco told EW in 2011, when he was preparing the project. "I do not think he'll look the same if you divide it as rigidly as the book, like titles that say 'Cash' and then you are with money. You can slip into the characters' heads and give them their inner voice for a while, but it has to be more fluid because movies work differently than books. Movies, in some ways, because they deal with images, are more concrete. I want to be faithful to the book - my approach is always to be true in a lot of ways - but to be true I will have to change some things for the movie. "
